Dorset Highways has been awarded the Best Service Team: Highways, Winter Maintenance and Street Lighting at this year’s Association for Public Service Excellence awards.
The Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) hosted their Annual Service Awards this month, which attracted more than 320 submissions from in excess of 100 organisations taking part from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The award recognised improved efficiency and better customer satisfaction in Dorset County Council’s highways service.
It took into account the review of the service in the past year to deliver savings of £750,000, the focused approach to managing its highway network and the successful completion of the A338 Bournemouth Spur Road major maintenance scheme.
Councillor Peter Finney, Cabinet member for environment, infrastructure and highways, said: “We’re delighted to have won this award, which recognises the hard work of everyone who works in our highways service.”
APSE Chief Executive Paul O’Brien said: “The winners of these awards are amongst the best at delivering outstanding public frontline services. APSE works continually to encourage public service excellence and we are delighted that all our finalists and winning councils are so highly committed to delivering the best possible services for the benefit of their communities.”
